Meet Your Trusted Doula Support in Auburn/Opelika

Amanda Lux, CD
Hi, I’m Amanda, the heart and doula of Design Her Doula. My journey into doula work was an easy one, it’s a calling and a passion of mine that was strengthened by 27 years in the medical field. In those years I developed a deep understanding of both the clinical and emotional aspects of maternity care. That background allows me to provide calm, knowledgeable support while helping families feel confident in their decisions.
Over the years, I have supported many different types of birth experiences and postpartum transitions. Every family is unique, and I honor that by providing customized doula support tailored to your needs. I am committed to creating a safe, reassuring space where mothers and families feel heard, respected, and supported.
Families in Auburn, Opelika and Columbus trust Design Her Doula because I focus on building meaningful relationships, offering reliable support, and helping parents adjust to life with their new babies.
My goal is to help families feel confident, informed, and cared for during every stage of pregnancy, labor, birth, and beyond.
When I’m not helping families, I love spending time with my husband, Johan, our grown children Ryan and Emily, their spouses, and our grandson, Liam. Being together as a family is something I treasure deeply. In my spare time, I enjoy baking, crafting and spending time with friends. Simple joys are what keep me grounded and remind me why caring for mothers, babies, and families is so close to my heart.
My inspiration to become a doula…
My desire to become a doula started at an early age. My grandmother was a labor and delivery nurse, and I loved listening to her stories as a child and even into adulthood. We often watched a show called “A Baby Story” and I hung on to every word and moment of that show. As I grew older, I quickly became a doula for friends and family without even realizing it. Being a support person for a laboring mother and her partner is by far one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. Becoming a certified doula was an extremely easy choice for me, “I was truly made for this.” My doula experience does not stop at the laboring and birthing aspect, I am also a postpartum doula. When things get a little too overwhelming at home or you just need some help or sleep, I am your person as well!

My passion to help and support others
I have worked in the medical field for roughly 27 years. I did take some time off to raise my children. With most of my experience being in emergency, family and obstetrics and gynecology medicine. My passion for patient care made becoming a doula an easy transition. My goal as a doula is to empower and support all women, and their birthing partners by providing comfort, strength, and peace of mind. I will embrace your journey with love, compassion, and unwavering support.
